Jugs (2010-present)
The jugs used to store chemical products such as developers and fixers that photo labs discard when empty become moulds into which Platéus pours urethane in order to reproduce their shape. There is chance at play in the process, since the appearance of abstract effects results from the mixing of colours through the different layers of urethane. The procedure materializes a space in which an image seems caught in the process of becoming, something akin to the photographic procedures through which ‘something’ is revealed. Depending on the exhibition, these objects, with their seemingly viscous textures, are presented on a plinth, a table, a shelf or the floor.
